"Slides are slides. Documents are documents. They aren't the same thing. Attempts to merge them result in what I call the "slideument" (Garr Reynolds - Presentation Zen)
Science has proven that we are biologically incapable of processing multiple attention - rich inputs simultaneously (Brain Rules - Dr John Medina). Therefore it cannot be effective to use wordy slides while presenting (since we are not biologically capable of listening and reading at the same time).
The goal of Slideuments Anonymous (SA) is to:
Encourage fellow SA members to stop using multiple sentences and long phrases on our presentation slides.
The Slideuments Anonymous Pledge
As a presenter I hereby pledge to:
- Commit to the SA's goal and stop making slideuments.
- Stop, or reduce, the use of bulleted lists on my visuals.
- Replace words on slides with high quality images that enhance my topic and use simple diagrams
- Change my current slides as soon as I can to reflect simplicity and clarity.
I further promise that I will never put myself in a situaiton where I have to say “It’s a bit of an eye chart” or "These slides are wordy but...".
Slideuments Anonymous - join the revolution.

Thank you Leon - please spread the word (or is that visual), we can communicate better with each other - just takes some work.

Hi Joe Pops,
After hearing and watching your presentation in KL last week, I became a fan.
